Wynonna Judd’s 27-year-old daughter, Grace Pauline Kelley, has found herself in legal trouble once again. Kelley was recently charged with misdemeanor crimes of indecent exposure and obstructing government operations.
According to reports, Kelley “exposed her chest and lower body at the busy intersection of Interstate 65 and Highway 14 in Millbrook” on Friday, April 5. She is currently still in jail with a $1,000 bond.
This is not the first time Kelley has been arrested. In 2016, she was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, and in 2017 she was charged with making, selling, and distributing the same drug. She was also arrested in 2021 for a probation violation and in 2023 for violating parole and an order of protection.
Kelley’s mother, country music star Wynonna Judd, has spoken about the challenges of being a parent in the public eye. In 1997, shortly after giving birth to Kelley and her sister, Judd said, “I don’t really give a rat’s butt about what the world thinks. I used to do anything for acceptance. Now as a mother, I stand there and say, ‘Here’s who I am; take me as I am.'”
In 2022, Judd expressed her support for her daughter, saying, “My daughter is the strongest Judd woman in our ‘herstory.'” However, Judd also acknowledged that Kelley’s path has been different from her own, stating, “She’s healthier than I was at 23. How she got there — I would not go that way, but I was also sequestered. I was on a bus with my mother. Kind of hard to get in trouble.”
The Judd family has faced significant challenges in recent years, including the tragic death of Wynonna’s mother, Naomi Judd, in 2022. As Wynonna continues to navigate her grief and support her family, the latest arrest of her daughter serves as a reminder of the complexities and difficulties that can arise in the lives of public figures and their loved ones.
