Luann de Lesseps is standing by Andy Cohen and Bravo amid the lawsuit filed by her former Real Housewives of New York City co-star Leah McSweeney.
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, de Lesseps said “Bravo has always been very supportive of my sobriety in and out of sobriety.” She added that “nobody is forced to do anything on the show” and that her experience with the network has been positive.
McSweeney’s lawsuit alleges that Cohen “engaged in cocaine use” with various Real Housewives stars, a claim that de Lesseps firmly rejected. “That is not an Andy’s character,” she told Us. “I know Andy, I’ve known him for years and it’s not in his character.”
While de Lesseps acknowledged that everyone has their own experience, she said it has not been her own. The Bravo star also shared an update on her own sobriety journey, revealing that she now drinks “on occasion.”
“God knows I’ve been through it and I’m in a good place with it now,” de Lesseps said. Her comments come as she continues to appear on The Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip and the spinoff series Luann & Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake.
