Northstar Clean Technologies Inc. and its strategic partner TAMKO Building Products LLC announced a major development in Northstar’s US expansion plans. Northstar’s first US asphalt shingle reprocessing facility will be built in the mid-Atlantic region, specifically chosen to supply TAMKO’s asphalt shingle production facility located in Frederick, Maryland.
This decision follows a comprehensive review of potential locations. Northstar and TAMKO will now collaborate to pinpoint the ideal site within the designated mid-Atlantic region, encompassing Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and parts of Virginia and West Virginia. The key consideration will be ensuring optimal logistics for supplying TAMKO’s Frederick plant while also maximizing efficiency for Northstar’s shingle recycling operations.
This collaborative effort signifies a significant step towards Northstar’s US market entry projected for 2025-2026. The project highlights the growing focus on sustainable practices in the construction industry, with Northstar offering a solution for recycling asphalt shingle waste.
The news comes on the heels of a $10 million investment in Northstar by TAMKO’s subsidiary, Allmine Paving LLC, announced in July 2023. This strategic partnership positions Northstar for success in bringing its innovative shingle recycling technology to the US market.
