Baltimore Orioles rookie outfielder Heston Kjerstad will watch Wednesday’s game from the bench as the team faces Los Angeles Angels southpaw Tyler Anderson.
Kjerstad made his much-anticipated debut on Tuesday against a right-handed pitcher, but went hitless with three strikeouts. With a tough lefty on the mound today, manager Brandon Hyde has opted to go with a lineup that features Anthony Santander in right field and Colton Cowser starting in left.
The 25-year-old Kjerstad earned his promotion to the big leagues after a scorching start at Triple-A Norfolk, where he slashed an impressive .349 with 10 home runs and 30 RBI in just 21 games. While his bat will be missed in the lineup today, fantasy baseball owners shouldn’t be discouraged. Kjerstad’s talent is undeniable, but the Orioles’ deep outfield options may lead to him sitting against some left-handed pitchers.
