Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., after failing to qualify for CNN’s presidential debate, opted to set up his own debate. Moderated by libertarian former Fox Business host John Stossel, this alternate debate was livestreamed on Elon Musk’s X platform. RFK Jr. provided his own answers to questions posed to Joe Biden and Donald Trump, criticizing the main debate for focusing on arguments and culture war issues rather than substantive topics.
Kennedy’s campaign has faced significant challenges. He failed to make the CNN debate stage, falling short of the required polling and ballot access thresholds. Despite garnering the minimum support in three approved polls, he only appeared on the ballot in nine states. His campaign also struggled financially, reporting just $2.6 million in donations for May and spending more than double that amount.
RFK Jr. remains active on social media and continues to participate in interviews, with plans for public events in July. Despite the obstacles, his campaign has attracted dedicated supporters who believe his policies could still resonate with voters seeking change from the two-party dominance in the U.S. political system.
