Speculation Surrounding Aleix Garcia’s Potential Move to Barcelona

Girona’s sporting director Quique Carcel has responded to the speculation surrounding Aleix Garcia’s potential move to Barcelona in the summer.

Garcia has emerged as a transfer target for the Catalan club, and the player himself has openly expressed his desire to play for Barcelona during his career.

While Carcel isn’t ruling out any possibilities, he doesn’t seem overly concerned about the transfer rumors. He acknowledged that the speculation has been a distraction, as it is unusual for Girona players to be featured prominently in major newspapers.

Carcel noted that it is difficult for a Girona player to ultimately end up playing for clubs like Barcelona or Real Madrid, as they have a much larger market. However, he did concede that the precedent set by Oriol Romeu’s move last year shows that such transfers cannot be completely ruled out.

Regarding Garcia’s release clause, Carcel remained cautious, stating that the situation is not currently playing out. Girona reportedly believe the clause is set at €20 million, but Barcelona are said to think it is more in the range of €14-15 million.

Overall, Carcel’s comments suggest that while the transfer speculation around Garcia is understandable, Girona are not overly concerned and are taking a measured approach to the situation.
